How Cedar Creek began

Cedar Creek Animal Hospital has been on the North End since 2009, and Dr. Rachel Owens opened it with one idea: a family should be able to see the same vet from a puppy’s first shots to the last years of its life. Read how the clinic works and what a visit looks like.

The price in writing
You see the estimate on paper, so the numbers are in front of you before anyone agrees to anything.
Cats and dogs apart
Separate waiting areas keep the visit calmer for both, and for you.

More about us

Treatments

Exams, vaccines, dental work and surgery

  • Wellness exam

A full physical: weight, diet, teeth, eyes, ears, coat and abdomen. This is where we pick up on problems before they show at home, and it is where every visit starts.

  • Vaccines

Core vaccines every pet needs, and lifestyle ones based on where your animal lives and what it does outdoors. Priced per shot, so you only pay for what your pet actually needs.

  • Dental cleaning

Scaling and polishing under anesthesia, with dental X-rays. X-rays show what is happening below the gumline, where you cannot see it from the outside.

  • Spay and neuter

Spaying or neutering is surgery, so pre-surgery bloodwork and pain medication are part of the care here, not add-ons you find on the bill afterwards.

  • Puppy and kitten package

Three visits covering the exams and the full vaccine series at one price. The shots are spaced out while a young animal’s immune system develops, so the series runs over several weeks.

  1. Nose-to-tail exam

Every appointment starts with a full physical. A lot of what a vet picks up in that exam is not yet visible to an owner at home.

  2. Written estimate first

You see the figure on paper before we begin. You decide what you can take on with the numbers in front of you.

  3. Calmer waiting room

Cats and dogs wait in separate areas. They pick up on each other’s smell and noise, and that is often what sets an animal on edge before it is even seen.

A visit

From the first call to the way home

  1. Call the clinic

Appointments are booked by phone. If your pet is unwell, call before noon and we will see you the same day.

  2. Full exam

The vet goes over your pet from nose to tail and asks what you have noticed at home.

  3. Written estimate

Before any treatment or surgery, you get the cost in writing and time to decide.

  4. Treatment and next steps

Vaccines, dental work, surgery, lab work or imaging, then the pharmacy or shop if you need anything to take home.
